Seth Thomas # 9 Oak Weight Driven Regulator Wall Clock w/factory date code stamp from 1888.   On the back of the case is the original Seth Thomas Factory Stamp: "8818J."    The letter J is the 10 th month of the year which is October.   The 8881 is the year of manufacture read from right to left.   According to the factory case stamp, this clock was made in October, 1888.    This is quite simply one of the finest Seth Thomas #9 wall clocks out there.   Original everything !   First Finish !  Original painted dial with only very minor chipping.   Original weight, pendulum, pulley, hands !
