Circa 1830 John Sawin, Boston MA Carved Mahogany Weight Driven Lyre Clock.    The clock is a beautiful example with exquisite acanthus leaf carving in the throat frame, as well as the finial.    The untouched, original dial mounts to the case with 3 bent over screws and there are no extra holes behind the dial or the movement.     If you look closely at the dial, there are traces of a signature (John Sawin) above the six o'clock hour marker.   Note the finely made barbed steel hands which are typical of the fine Boston makers.    The works are typical of Sawin's work with the diagonal mounts through the backboard along with the pinning to the rear plate of the timepiece.   Other period mid 19th Century Boston area attributes include single bridge suspension, brass crutch, cast iron weight, and brass pulley with cast iron strap hook.    The pendulum: suspension, keystone, rod, bob, and rating nut are all original to the works.     The lower bracket is original as well as the acorn finial, and the weight has never gone through the bottom of the case.      The clock is weight driven and runs great.   A winding crank is included.  The reverse glass tablet is a tastefully executed old replacement.   The hi-res photos tell the whole story.   Shipping is not a problem on this item and  you will pay EXACT S/H/I charges for 2 boxes with the weight and the bob traveling in a separate box.   Of coarse you may inspect and/or pick up the clock in person.   EMAIL for an appointment :  info@adamsbrown.com
