18th Century London Mahogany Long Case Clock by Andrew Fowlds. According to F. J. Britten's Old Clocks & Watches and their makers 2nd. edition, Fowlds was at work in London 1790-1794 at Number 9, St. John's Square. The case represents the finest craftsmanship and wood selection with choice figured mahogany, fluted quarter columns in the bonnet with brass stop flutes, tombstone door with thumb molding, and applied panel base all resting on a stepped bracket base. The clock is from the Hathaway family and we acquired the clock at their estate sale. The eight day brass striking movement is in an excellent state of preservation and keeps perfect time. The works are original to the case. Dimensions: 95 1/2 X 20 1/2 X 10 3/4 inches. Please EMAIL for more information or an appointment to view the clock info@adamsbrown.com
