Curtis & Dunning Weight Driven Banjo Clock circa 1825 made in Burlington Vt. The 8 day brass timepiece mounts to the backboard with a single rear center bolt. Note the identifiable Curtis features: "butterfly" shaped suspension bridge, circular notch in keystone, "telephone receiver" tie down, cast brass sidearms with broad sweeping radius, and flowing script signature "Warranted by Curtis & Dunning." Condition: Both glasses are original, flaking and touch up from the back to both, throat frame cracked and reglued by Linda Abrams. Wonderful original "convex" dial with gilt time track and untouched (faint but readable when viewed at an angle, hard to photograph but it's there and it's right as rain!) script signature "Warranted by Curtis & Dunning" across the dial between 4 and 8 o'clock. I have included a couple of close up photos of the "ghost" signature. One of the photos has had contrast enhancement in PhotoShop to help you see the "Dunning." The movement is original to the case and in excellent condition. The clock runs just fine, but sorry no guarantees after shipping. The cast lead weight is original. The "moon" hands are original as well. The gilding was gone over a long time ago but has nice color and in good condition. The finial is an old period replacement and the chimney is a bench made restoration. There are no extra holes behind the movement. The frames are original to the case. The door pull on the bottom frame is an old replacement. The loop on the iron wall hanger has been repaired. The bezel is original and the clock comes with a winding crank.
S/H/I is fixed at $ 100 in the lower 48 states, AK/HI and International shipments at higher cost. The frames, dial, bezel will all be removed from the case and wrapped separately for shipment. The weight will be removed and shipped in a separate box. I only use brand new packing materials: thick walled cardboard boxes, bubble paper, styrofoam peanuts. It takes alot of extra time and care to ship a period clock and I personally do all of the packing. Of coarse you are welcome to inspect and/or pickup the clock in person in Cranbury NJ.
