Circa 1880's Victorian Jeweler's Regulator, Philadelphia PA. This magnificent case is made from American Black Walnut and retains the original finish. There are burled walnut applied panels along with finely carved scroll work and crown. The door glass and side glasses are original. The clock was sold by renowned firm of Breitinger & Kunz, Philadelphia PA and for those of you that might remember Fred Breitinger, long time member of the NAWCC and Phila Chapter 1, this clock was sold by his grandfather. The case measures 82" and is 25" maximum width at the moldings. The works are a magnificent seconds pendulum movement with deeply cut pinions, massive plates, heavy posts, precision machine, adjustable pallets; signed by Gustav Becker and have the famous "gold medal" die stamped trademark on the back plate. Breitinger & Kunz were agents for Black Forest Clocks and the American Cuckoo Clock Company was run by them as well. The 8 day works are original to the case, and so is the pendulum. There is an original porcelain beat scale at the bottom of the case. The dial has a 10 1/2" bezel, 8" time track and is made of porcelain and signed by the firm below the center arbor.
