Early 19th Century American Bracket Clock, Philadelphia PA formerly owned by the Pennsylvania Legislature and presented to Pennsylvania Governor Francis R. Shunk.    This clock has am American eight day brass striking works with a rare pinwheel escapement indigenous to the workshop of the renowned Philadelphia craftsman "Griffith Owen."    The clock has been recently serviced and is in fine working condition.  The American painted iron dial is decorated with raised gilt and gesso beading characteristic of the Boston Dial Painters & their Philadelphia Agents:  Curtis Manufactory, Patton & Jones, & Spencer Nolen.     The dial has a rolling moon with a fabulous sailing ship scene along with raised gilt spandrel decoration.    The clock comes with original letters/correspondence from the great-grandson of Governor Shunk.The clock is available for inspection in Cranbury NJ, email for an appointment :  info@adamsbrown.com   All photos Copyright 2008 Adams Brown Company, All rights reserved.   The clock can be doubled boxed and shipped using UPS or hand delivered to your door using a Fine Arts Delivery Service.
